What do we do...?

Together with some original dances, we perform traditional Morris dances, many of which originated in the North-West of England and were danced in clogs by the girls who worked in the Lancashire cotton mills in the mid-Nineteenth Century.

The dances are generally performed in a set with eight dancers, to the accompaniment of traditional tunes. Sticks, hankies or garlands are used in the performance, and the dancers wear leather clogs with wooden soles, and dance to best effect on a hard surface.

At most events, we would perform for two sets of approximately twenty minutes each for a small fee. The team takes only basic travelling expenses from this fee, making donations to favourite charities at the end of the dance season.
